A grandmother’s cupboard, armchairs of the 70ths, blackboards, a wall painted with the faces of the artists who have made the history of music around the world….this is  in few words, the vintage and cool ambiance that you will find in GESTO. This new place in the historic centre of Perugia will surprise you for its  welcoming. Choose your spot, from the cupboard take the blackboard, a chalk and write what you want to order. The menu meat/fish/vegetables  also have delicious hors d’ouvres and the presentation of the dishes are very original.  Internet wi/fi, the big coffee moka and the DJ set are some of the examples of why GESTO is the perfect place to find old and new friends. A good advice : choose late afternoon or after dinner to order green the with peaches and a sweet cake.  Delicious is the cheese cake with rosemary.

Morlacchi Square. A name, an assurance, the Morlacchi is the historic coffee shop for all the students of the University of Perugia. Situated next to the Faculty of Letters, the library and the Morlacchi theatre, this coffee shop is always full of young people. You cannot find a pretext for not visiting it because it is open from very early in the morning till late at night. At least a coffee cup is a must at the Morlacchi. Every day you will find young artist’s exhibitions and Thursday’s nights there is a DJ set. A good tip, be there before dinner to have a nice aperitif.  Excellent drinks and a buffet full of goodies.

Via Enrico del Pozzo. Are you looking for a “real” place? A discreet one, full of historic and  everyday life stories?  That is exactly what the Kandisky is. In the Porta Pesa district, 5 minutes from Ilgo Hotel, you can find this famous and well loved locale. Opens everyday from 9 p.m., the Kandisky is a real “house” for perugia’s young people. Every day there are special evenings; on Tuesday they have “Cinemassi”, on Wednesday the reggae and on Saturdays live entertainment.  Comfortable smoker’s room and many dishes for your evening snacks.

Sant’Andrea delle Fratte. One of the most appreciate places in Perugia, the URBAN CLUB proposes a rich weekly program.  It starts with Friday’s famous “Friday I’m in Rock”, live concerts and quality Dj’s set. Via Pascoli.  Number 110, with the “ROCK WEDNESDAY” more than a club is indeed THE evening, and THE hangout point for the young people in Perugia.  Every week, rendezvous at the coffee shop of the Faculty of Economics that for this occasion turns to be the most expected night for the students of Perugia. Concerts, DJ set Rock and plenty, plenty of entertainment…….the ideal night to unbridle oneself.

Roma Avenue. Are you looking for a stylish night in the middle of the historic center? The VELVET FASHION CAFÉ is an ideal place for people who wants to spend a nice evening with beautiful music and excellent drinks. It is very famous for the University Thursday, where every week one of the faculties is celebrated.  Assured entertainment, prepare your best outfits.

Its the cool place in Perugia where the young people and many university students get together on Thursday and Saturday night. Very easy to reach due to the mini bus that takes you from Piazza Fortebraccio downtown Perugia ( 10  minutes  walk from Hotel Ilgo). Cantiere 21 is one of the favourite clubs in town. Music and animation to having fun all night long. Always full of people it’s an historical club!

Via Benedetto Bonfigli. Restaurant located under the old Zenith theatre. Its decorated with alternative cinematography .  Fresh ingredients used in all their dishes.  Appropriate  to spend an evening with friends or your partner. Perfect for an move-dinner evening with an specific menu. Excellent the hamburgher and home made pasta.

Via Borgo XX Giugno.  In our list of top 10 restaurants in Perugia we couldn’t miss the Pizzeria Pompei of the Scisciola family, a native family from Pompei. This is the best place to have a good pizza downtown Perugia. Open from 2001 has immediately have a great success becoming the halting place for many locals.  The pizzeria is located in the Borgo Bello district, charming area not only for its cultural interest with the San Pietro church but for the shopping with many stores and boutiques.  One of its famous pizza is the Pizza Norcina, with the Umbrian sausages, Norcia’s cheese and truffles…to lick one’s lips!  The Pompei is also a restaurant with tasty antipasti, first and second courses. Borgo XX Giugno.  Are you looking for a special place with simple, fast but tasty food? This is the place for you. The Old fry food shop The butchery is a unique place. It is situated in and old butcher’s shop that has been completely renovated and transformed to offer you all kinds of fry food and hamburghers.  Tall stools, table games to wait, while  from behind the counter arrive all the perfumes of an open kitchen.  An ample choice of of beers, mainly Umbrian’ artisan ones.  This is a regular place for young people who are interested in cinema, because few steps ahead is the Zenith Cinema, historic cinema of downtown Perugia, where every night high quality films are showed,  At the Butchery order the fried small mozzarella and the beer Perugia.

A hidden narrow street along Corso Vannucci, an intimate place obtained from the old Etruscan walls with local and bio products, nice waiters……..a perfect mix for this Trattoria – pizzeria of the historic center of Perugia, famous for the quality of the Umbrian products used in the kitchen, a home- made  food, healthy and genuine like the one prepared by our grandmothers. In the Menu each product is specified, explaining  from which farm it comes, and where it is situated.  Il Mangiar Bene wants to give an identity to the food offered so every day presents fresh and typical products from our region. A must to order is the Apetizer of the Mangiar Bene, so you can taste the best sausages and Umbrian cheeses. They have an excellent idea for the First course, you choose the pasta and the sauce that goes with it. An excellent home-made Amaro with your coffee to digest this 100% Umbrian cuisine.

Via Piantarose.  Tradition, taste, quality and the feeling of “being at home” are the first four words that comes to mind thinking of the historic Perugino restaurant “Dalla Bianca” open since 1947. Not to miss if you want to live a real Umbrian experience tasting simple dishes but made with fresh seasonal products. You cannot leave Perugia without tasting the famous “Torello alla perugina” or the pasta with norcina sauce.  Excellent Umbrian wines to drink with your dinner but most important of all is the unique atmosphere of the restaurant, even if you come from far away or you are a foreigner you will feel part of the perugina family of Bianca and will be serve dishes cooked with the heart, like when you cook for your friends or family. You will be surprised to find out how this small place has become the symbol of the Umbrian street food.  At least once a week all young people go there for lunch, tea time, or dinner. Like any other city, Perugia has its “Cult” restaurant. A place that Perugia’ s young people know since their young age and the one that families choose for the Sunday lunch with friends and relatives. This famous restaurant is situated 20 minutes from Perugia, along the Trasimeno Lake.  Perfect for a lunch or dinner outside the city; the most popular dish is the TORTA AL TESTO symbol of the Umbrian street food.  Popular believe is that the torta al testo from Maria is the best in town, with sausages and spinach, with Norcia ham or any kind of cheese. You cannot end you holidays in our region without trying the famous torta al testo. The torta’s dough is similar to the pizza one, but it is not leavened. This torta is so good that it can be eaten as a dessert as well filled with Nutella!
